The St. Louis Storytelling Festival is an event held in early May that has been offered for 30 years to people of all ages in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Each year, more than 40 regional and 7 featured storytellers and their audiences gather during this four-day event for the telling of tales.

We are very fortunate to have Mary Engelbreit provide the artwork for all the promotional vehicles we use to support the St. Louis Storytelling Festival. This Web site uses parts of her artwork, and you can see more of her artwork on all the print materials we use.

Explore and Discover the Art & Craft of Storytelling (Storytelling [Media 3362/Education 5006])

This course will explore storytelling in terms of definition, selection of appropriate materials, methods of preparation, and techniques of presentation. Traditional rendering of stories, as well as more innovative approaches using art, music, and movement, will be demonstrated. Developing storytelling units based on a theme or historical figure also will be discussed. Participants in this course will have many opportunities to learn stories and polish them for telling. Emphasis is placed on personal experience and how it fits into existing curriculum.
